Grüner Veltliner is the most important grape variety in Austria. It is also planted in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. There is a small amount in Canada, particularly in British Columbia, as well as New Zealand.. t has a reputation of being a particularly food-friendly wine. It is made into wines of many different styles and quality levels. There are light, more acidic wines and there are also complex, rich versions with a high degree of ripeness. Grüner Veltliner is known to be spicy and peppery with notes of stone fruit and citrus. It achieved international recognition and popularity at the end of the 20th century.
