Five-Course Gourmet Dinner featuring Stina Wines – Nov 30th

Tuesday, November 30th at 6:30pm at Woods Restaurant, Toronto

Join us on Tuesday, November 30th for a five-course gourmet dinner with wine pairings at Woods Restaurant on Colborne Street, Toronto with Stina’s Winemaking Director, Petar Kusić, and Director of Sales & Marketing, Emil Mehdin.  The event will be co-hosted by WineAlign’s John Szabo, MS, who will educate, entertain and guide you through this delicious, premium wine pairing dinner.

Wine making is an ancient tradition in and around the island of Brač, off Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, with deep roots and a long history dating back to when the Ancient Greeks introduced the first vines there around the 5th century BC. The winery that is today home to Stina, dates back to 1903 and is believed to be the closest in the world to the actual sea, enabling the workers in the old days to simply roll the barrels directly from land to ship.  Stina Winery was founded in 2009, and has quickly built up a reputation as a leading producer of premium wines with a focus on Dalmatia’s indigenous varietals. Stina’s vineyards on the island are in the most extreme locations, imbedded in crushed stone, and should be on every wine adventurer’s bucket list. It is difficult to understand how the vines were first planted, let alone maintained and harvested. In places the gradient exceeds 45° with vines planted at up to 500m above sea level. These premium slopes are skeletal, stony, south-facing, and with maximum exposure to the sun and the sea breezes – the ideal micro-climate for Dalmatia’s indigenous varietals to thrive.

Stina’s wines offer a true expression of these native grapes and of Dalmatia as a whole. Powerful reds with the well-known characteristics of sour cherries and Mediterranean herbs, along with beautifully crisp whites, with a strong structure, extreme minerality and saline notes – a true taste of the Adriatic!

Three of the featured wines were reviewed by our team of experts earlier this year, with very strong results – all wines receiving an average rating 92 pts and above.

Stina Pošip 2018 – John Szabo (93 pts) – this is the previous vintage to the one being served at dinner

Stina Vugava 2019 – John Szabo (94 pts)

Stina Plavac Mali Majstor – John Szabo (93 pts)

You can expect a top notch wine and food experience!
