This 60/40 blend of sauvignon blanc and Semillon comes from the Margaret River region of Western Australia. The sauv blanc, being the more aromatically pungent of the two grapes, seems to dominate on the nose, though this wine is not nearly as herbaceous as, say, most New Zealand sauv blancs. The aromas are of guava, passionfruit, grapefruit pith, and lemon, with hints of green apple, grass, honey, biscuit, and elderflower. The semillon is more prominent on the palate, and contributes more green apple, lemon, and honeyed notes, while the other aromas repeat. This wine is crisp, fruity, and balanced, with the semillon taming the sauv blanc and fleshing out the wine a bit. Simple, but very fresh, well made, and food-friendly. Tasted Mar. 2017.
