This is a pleasant, fruit-forward Grenache. The nose is very sweet, with aromas of blackberry and raspberry jam, plum and prune, milk chocolate, toast, hazelnut, cinnamon, and savoury notes of sage, menthol, tobacco, licorice, and a bit of meatiness. The fruit is much fresher and more like wild red berries on the palate, with a lot less oak showing and the savoury qualities repeating. The wine is medium-bodied with juicy acidity. The only thing slightly out of balance with this wine are the tannins. While not high, they are a bit unripe and astringent. Definitely needs some grilled meats with it. Tasted Jan. 2017.
