This is a bigger than expected wine. Its a bit rough being tart and edgy but really, for $16, a steal. I am surprised that our experts didn't give it a higher score. Maybe they are afraid that its a little to rough for the typical Canadian palate.
While no model of refinement, this is a tasty south French red. The syrah really takes front stage for me, with plenty of spice/pepper-infused black fruit. A bit lean and just medium bodied, very fresh and lively. A bit rough and rustic, but all the more charming for it. Easy purchase. Tasted March 2017.
David Lawrason's tasting notes are right on the money. Despite the coarseness / edginess that people refer to, this has a beautiful, smooth finish. Dry and lightweight. This is really enjoyable.
