This is a super food-friendly wine thanks to it's acidity, tart red fruit, and savoury hints. The aromas are of sweet/sour red cherries, raspberry, blueberry, violet, and vanilla, and undertones of forest floor, sage, leather, allspice, and a slight gamey/meatiness. Flavours are very similar but offer a touch of green olive, and smoke instead of vanilla. On the palate it is fresh, vibrant, and medium-bodied. The tannins are below medium. The finish is moderate in length, but the acidity really lingers. Pair with pizza, lighter pastas, or barbecued chicken. Tasted Jan. 2017.
