The 2014 vintage of this wine is a substantial improvement over the 2013. It is still in a very oak-driven, oxidative style, but has much better balance. The nose shows lots of butterscotch, smoke, and almond, with some sweet pineapple, banana, apple, and dried apricot fruit, as well as honey, spicy clove and nutmeg, and a touch of mushroom. On the palate there is red apple, lemon curd, dried apricot and pineapple, and more smoky/butterscotch/almond and spicy clove/nutmeg. The texture is soft, creamy, and fairly full, and the acidity is moderate: just enough to balance. The alcohol is a bit hot. I would drink this within the year while there is still some fruit left. Tasted Nov. 2016.
