Critics nailed it with this one
Remarkably light weighted Dao but brimming with flavour. Crisp red fruits, with nicely integrated herbaceous/spicy notes and hints of black tea. Tannin is very mild and some brisk acidity. Lingers very nicely. Really finely balanced and an all too easy wine to sip. Picked up on sale at under $16, which is a bargain by any standards. Tasted Feb 2017.
Quaffable indeed. Light but with great concentration of dark fruit and a bit of earthiness. Excellent, refreshing balance. Essentially zero tannins. Medium finish.
Deep in colour, this wine offers a vibrant nose of baked red & black fruits, liquorice, rose, carnations, and a slight resinous note.
On the palate, very balanced acids & tannins. Flavours of blackberry jam, smoked meat, tobacco, resin. A lot of depth and flavour here, but not over-the-top.
I'd definitely put some down fro five years or so.
Tasted October 2016.
