This is a fresh, tasty, distinctive white from the Marche region of central Italy, made from 100% Verdicchio grapes. The nose offers powerful notes of almond and salty minerals, but once it gets some air these tone down a bit to reveal green pear, lemon, herbs, peach, melon, honey, white flowers, and an almost toasty, biscuity character. The palate is much more fruit forward, with tart lemon/lime and green apple dominant. There is a touch of white pepper, and then all of that savoury, salty, almond character comes back to linger on the finish. Despite the almost high acidity, this medium bodied wine has a soft, round mouthfeel. Pair with anything from simple fish dishes to seafood pastas to herbed chicken.
