I must admit that my expectations were very low for a Baco Noir. I was blown away by this wine - a great wine. I'll have to reframe my references when it comes to Baco from now on. Recommended.
This might be the best bottle of Ontario wine I have ever tasted. It was superbly deep and complex with earthy, blackberry overtones. The length was excellent, and all around the table fought over the last drops in the bottle.
Henry of Pelham does Baco so well and the Family Reserve is a particularly good example. The concentration and purity of fruit from the challenging 2014 vintage is admirable. Fairly complex with dark fruit in the plum, prune, cassis range with cedar, herbs, meat and vanilla. It's medium/full bodied with bright acidity and soft tannin, quite prototypical for Baco. Length is very good to excellent. April 2017.
Nice wine, A bit too much fruit for my liking, almost jammy like but some air time softened it a bit
