Subtle vanilla-honey aromatics from the noticeably short cork. Medium-high aromatics on the nose with smoky buttered popcorn, lemon, apple, vanilla and a touch reductive. Complex aroma replays on the smooth, medium-bodied palate, and slightly nutty and mineral notes, Juicy, well-balanced acids and a nice mineral texture. The finish is long and fine with hints of coffee flavours. Tasted Dec/2016.
Tasted in 2016: A leaner citric Chard. In 2017 re: tested and much better. Flavours coming out, such as creme brûlée
Description: Bright gold in colour with a medium+ intense nose. This wine features lightly butter toasted oak, lemon, green & yellow apples, pear, dill, kumquat, kiwi, marzipan, oak spice. Medium+ body with good acidity and a long length.
Negatives: The finish has an overripe citric taste
Interesting Note: Don’t over chill this Chard as the cold will mask some of its nuances
Drink now or in 2-3 years on its own or pair it with Veal Piccata with Angel Hair and Parmigiana-Reggiano.

Out of 5 stars, I rated this wine: 3.5+ (in 2017: 4+ out of 5)
This wine is all about lemon butter. It's lean not fat and fresh and light instead of heavy. Shows woodsy vanilla on the nose with pure lemon juice and lemon butter on the palate. Did I mention lemon...yes very lemony.
This Chard needs time in the glass to open and for a strong reductive sluphur, onion aroma to dissipate. With time a really nice PEC Chard emerges. Notes of apple, pear, citrus, white flower, ginger, honey and minerality emerge. Vibrant acidity and medium bodied creaminess provide structure to the unfolding complexity of aromas. Excellent length seals the deal for a 90 rating. This will get better in the bottle, so if you have a few be patient and save some for three years down the road. Dec. 2016.
A lean, minerally chard from Closson Chase. Plenty of tart lemon flavour along with some green apple. Oak is very well judged, only playing a supporting role. This wine impressed more the longer it sat in the glass (perhaps a function of being served a bit too cold, perhaps it simply needed some air). The finish is quite long. I do wish that they would have spent a few extra cents on a decent cork. After all, this is nearly a $30 wine (though I picked it up for about $22 on sale). Drink over the next year as I don't think that the cork will hold out longer term. Tasted Oct 2017
