I know that Catena is widely popular for its malbec but they do make awesome well priced cabernets like this one...

Very good value here. This is a nicely bright, juicy and fruity cab with ripe blackcurrant/cherry a touch of toast...

Really happy with this wine. Starts off great without any breathing time. Don't let it breath more than 2 hours.

I get berry and leather.

Paired it with a steak, and grilled halloumi cheese.

It's been a long while since I've had a Catena red. They veered a little too much into the cherry-cola- sweetness infected wines for several years. Not sure why, their wines in the '90s were great. So here is the 2014, a ripe (nearly too ripe) cabernet, but mercifully avoiding the confection of some past efforts. Smooth, with some fine tannin. Good wine, best with rich stews. Tasted Oct 2016.
