A top value, nicely perfumed and mature nebbiolo in the classic spectrum, with well-balanced palate to match. This...

I'm going to attempt to describe this wine. Some wines are so excellent it's hard to put it in words. The nose is really interesting - cherry, smoke, charcoal and cigar. The palate has super fine tannins and adds citrus notes (mostly orange peel), orange chocolate, coco dust and cigar on the finish. This is medium bodied and very slick. Worth every penny, probably underpriced at $30. A comparable Gaja would run you over $100 a bottle. Buy as much as you can.

Socre's Barbarescos are quite lovely and this is no exception. Expressive perfumed aromas of red fruit, florals, a hint of tar. Barbarescos tend to be that much more approachable early in life compared to their more masculine Nebbiolo cousin - Barolo, and this one is drinkable now despite its relative youth. Tannin is still high, but decanting helps. Medium plus acidity, nicely balanced and excellent length. April 2016.

This is fine nebbiolo for the price, with lots of depth and great earthy complexity while staying well clear of da funk. Fruit is in the dried, pruney end of the specturm as expected, with really lovely tannins on the finish. Drinking nicely now and fairly evovled. Will likely hold a few years but not a cellar-dweller. Going back for more!
