This seems to show a noticeable botrytis character. Light gold in color. Lovely aromas of honey, orange blossom, pineapple, ripe peach, apricot jam, candied grapefruit, ginger, and orange zest, along with just a bit of rose and lychee. Hits the palate with loads of honey and apricot jam, but soon turns less sweet, with pineapple, ripe pink grapefruit, gala apple, white pepper and ginger. Honeyed and rich on the palate, but still bright and clean thanks to high acidity. Very good length, finishing with ripe peach, lemon, white pepper, and honey. Delicious!
Lovely, elegant nose of rose petals, lychee and honey that also show up on the sweet palate. Balanced acids and very good length on the finish. Tasted Nov/2015.
Ah, "noble rot." This late-harvest Gewürztraminer, a nice value from the Pfalz, offers characteristic notes of apricot and lychee, the sweetness nicely offset by delicate floral (rose) elements and a touch of bitterness on the finish, but the driving force here is the honey, in both flavour and texture, possibly from Botrytis. That's a good thing, as it provides body and counters the thinning fruit -- indeed, this has mead-like but also, at its heights, ice wine-like qualities. It works on its own, for sure, but it's even better with food. (It was simply brilliant with Indian curries.)
