Fantastic value. A well balanced oaked viognier. Great aromatic intensity. A balanced bouquet of ripe fruit like peach, pineapple, dried apricot, tangerine, and orange zest, as well as oak notes of coconut, roasted almond, vanilla, and nutmeg. Some honey, white flowers, cream, and biscuit too. These come through nicely on the palate, with the honey more prominent, but not as actual sweetness. Very thick, viscous mouthfeel, just a touch hot with all that alcohol (13.5). Excellent length, with apricot, nutmeg, clove, vanilla, cream, and some gala apple coming through on the finish.
Darker yellow gold shows extended oak aging. Spicey almost funky nose. A bit too volatile for me. Creamy viscous palate with lemon and grapefruit. Spicey but sour with 13.5% ABV giving late palate burn rather than integrated. Aug. 2015.
