An unusually rich, spohisticated and savoury pinot at this price point. I'm no pro, but in a blind tasting I would likely peg this one as being from the South Island of New Zealand. Hope we see more from this up-and-coming region of Chile at the LCBO!
Medium ruby in colour; attractive. Bright red fruit on the nose -- cranberries. Med bodied with good structure, and a long spicy finish. A bit hot (you notice the 14% alcohol). Flavours are in the PN range with small berries and a bit of earth, but I would have liked stronger variatel character. Clearly well made, and I agree with JS that it could benefit from a bit of time in the cellar; not too long, as I'd worry about the alcohol overwhelming the freshness. Interesting, and worth a try but I'm not rushing out to buy more.
