Dark ruby to purple in colour, the nose is full of blackberries, dried fruits, baking spices and mocha. Taste is on the drier side (which suited me, but not my wife) with a long finish. As mentioned in other reviews, this is reminiscent of a Ripasso, and a bargain at the price.
This is a wine you definitely want to decant -- it needs a tonne of air to open up well. It's dry with some grip, but not unpleasant. It didn't really hit the mark for us.
Paul Yeoman's reaction was dead-on identical to my wife's and my reaction. Although from a value point of view, for 10.95 you could do a lot worse
