Finally a good vintage in Rioja. Haven't had this quality since 2004... a full decade...that's a long wait. Nice full body feel and surprisingly soft mouth feel for a crianza. nice balance and elegance. Buy a boat load while it's on sale!
A juicy crianza that offers excellent value for the money. While oak is definitely present, it isn't over the top. Notes of cherries, leather, tobacco, baking spice. A solid structure framed by tannin and acidity, and a very good length that ends with a peppery finish. Some alcohol heat - serve at 60-64 degrees. Nov. 2014.
The 2010 Montecillo Crianza Rioja, aged in oak for more than one year, has appealing aromas of sour cherry, cedar and wood on the nose and cranberry, pomegranate, sour cherry, wood and light vanilla on the palate. It is a light to medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine; with refreshing acidity, dusty tannins (decant for 15 min) and a medium to long, clean finish. This is a food friendly wine that can be sipped alone; it has a short aging potential – 2018+ (cork enclosure). My impression: NICE, 87-88 pts – recommended for its value. Tasted in Apr/15.

Our house was a bit divided on this wine. I thought it was a great value - rustic, robust with a dry, dusty finish. My wife found it too dry on the finish - and although she agreed it was a wine with a full mouth feel, she would not get it again.
A nice mid-weight Rioja crianza with a lot of red fruits, chocolate and wood tones.
Tannins are mild and balanced, good length.
Tasted March 2018.
Tasted April 2015
Very soft, approachable Rioja red. Simple red fruits with noted oak and an average finish. Fails to excite, actually rather boring. Tasted nov 2014.
