Clear deep ruby with light purple rim. Pronounced nose of blackcurrants, plum with red cherry, with strong chocolate, mint and vanilla and some nondescript florality underneath. Medium-full bodied with medium acidity and full, rough tannins. Chocolatey notes predominated on the attack in the mouth, followed by harsh, rough tannins. Delicious, except for the finish. I have a suspicion that with another 5-10 years in the bottle those tannins will smooth out and this will be a thing of marvel.
