The 2008 Carione Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from the general section of LCBO, has seductive notes of barnyard, lees, pomegranate, red currant, subtle cedar and oak on the nose and pomegranate and cranberry on the palate. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine; with tangy/tart acidity, grippy tannins (decant for 1-2 hours) and a medium to long finish. This is a food friendly wine; drink now – 2019++ (cork enclosure). My impression: quite NICE, 88 pts – recommended for its value as it is a great entry level wine into the realm of fine Brunellos (only if you can decant it). Tasted in Sep/14.
