The 2012 Rotary Club 1951 Unoaked Chardonnay is a wine crafted by Château Des Charmes and $1 from the proceeds go to the club’s foundation http://rotarylakeshore.org/. The wine has subtle aromas of limestone minerality, yellow apple, pineapple and gooseberry on the nose and stems, pineapple and lemon on the palate. It is a light bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; with checked acidity and a short finish. Drink with food (decant for 15 min and serve at 10°C); drink now and for the next few years (screw cap enclosure). Rated 86 pts. Tasted in Sep/14.

Unoaked - but a toasty caramel nose, with baked apple. Michael identified the herb - tarragon - that caught me slightly off guard. A sweet mineral note as well.

Initially creamy in the mouth, but at the same time a bit thin. Caramel, slightly burnt, predominates over the apple on the palate. Finish is short+.

This is a pleasant wine, as a patio sampler. The fact that proceeds goes to support charity is a bonus.

Tasted December 2014.

As one of my friends describes it: this is airplane wine. Completely forgettable, but drinkable.
