The 2011 Château Los Boldos Vieilles Vignes Syrah, aged in new French and American Oaks for 12 months, has appealing aromas of light lees, eucalyptus, blackberry, black cherry and smoke on the nose and prune, earthiness and light wood on the palate. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; with forward acidity, subtle to refined tannins (decant for 15 min) and a medium to long finish. It is a food friendly and sipping wine; drink now till 2020+, evolution potential +1 (cork enclosure). My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90 (+1 Ep) pts – recommended for both its quality and value especially when it was for a week on sale for $15.95. Tasted in Jan/15.
