The 2012 Closson Chase Vineyard Chardonnay that spent 17 months in French Oak barrels has elegant gooseberry, linden and subtle lees, struck match, stems and wood aromas on the nose and gooseberry, lemon, and faint vanilla on the palate. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry/dry, integrated wine; with good, refreshing acidity and a medium to long, oily finish. Despite being a food friendly wine (excellent with cheeses), sip this one on its own; drink now to 2020 (cork enclosure). My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90-91 pts – recommended for its quality. Tasted Apr/14.
