The 2010 Saint Clair Family Estate Pioneer Block 15 Pinot Noir, sourced from a single vineyard in Waihopai Valley from clones 115 and 777 that was aged for 10 months in seasoned French Oak barriques, has seductive aromas of toast, cigar box, stables, vanilla, vegetal notes and red currant and cherry. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated to aged wine; with refreshing acidity, subtle tannins and a medium to long, clean finish. This is a food friendly and sipping wine; drink now to 2018+ (screw cap enclosure). My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts – recommended for its quality and value. Tasted in May/14 at 'Tasted during New Zealand in a glass tasting' http://grapeselections.com/new-zealand-fair-2014/.
