Medium intensity aromas of smoky cassis and cherry. Medium-full bodied with sweet ripe fruits on the palate with notes of cassis and dried cherry. Tannins are chalky, yet smooth and integrating very nicely. Good acids and a long, warm, finish. Ageable 4-5 years. Recommended. Tasted Feb/2014.

The 2010 Jim Barry Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon has intense aromas of stems, pomegranate, cranberry, red currant, vanilla and oak. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity to integrated wine; BALANCED with refreshing acidity, refined tannins and a medium to long, silky finish. Enjoy on its own; drink now – 2020+. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts – recommended for its quality and value. Tasted at Australia Today 2014 Trade show http://grapeselections.com/australian-wine/ in Feb/14.

Dominated by graphite on the nose and sour currant on the finish, it takes time for this Aussie Cab to find itself, even a day or so, but when it does it achieves wonderful balance and harmony -- old/new, light/dark, sweet/savoury, rich/refreshing all at the same time. The graphite-currant duo remains, but there's serious complexity with leather, dark chocolate, tobacco, spice, and red berry notes, with a hint of mint in the background. The deeper elements are worth pondering, but in no way is this some brooding beast, and while the tannins could have been softer, the results are excellent.
