The 2010 Castello di Neive Barbaresco that was aged in oak for 12 months, has intense aromas of clove, fennel seed, wood on the nose and dried pomegranate, red currant and sweetish anise on the palate. It is a light to medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine; is BALANCED with good acidity, grippy tannins (decant for 1+ hours) and has a long and smooth finish. This is a sipping wine; drink now – 2018. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90-91 pts – recommended for its quality and especially value as it is comparable to other Barolo’s and Barbaresco’s, yet at half the cost. Tasted Nov/13.
