This is a nice, fresh, zippy riesling here. Lots of lemon/lime with stoney minerality, and a hint of petrol. Vibrant, fresh, grippy acids. Really incredible value here for $14.
nice, dry, mineral-driven riesling. Recommended.
Nose of lime more than lemon; mineral, white flowers, pear.
On the palate, this is classic Ontario Riesling, and a good example. Crisp citrus and gooseberry predominate, with white stone fruit playing a supporting role. The mid-palate is a bit short, so the medium finish is more citrus and mineral two-tone, less other fruit complexity.
Great value.
Tasted July 2015.
Screw cap. Highly aromatic and very appealing nose of petrol, mineral oil, lemon/lime and flinty stony minerality. The palate is medium-bodied with high, lemony acids that balances the sweetness, making this wine just a touch off-dry. Clean lemon/lime and mineral flavours, with more minerally flavours closing out on the finish, with very good length. Seems to be coming apart a bit, so drink soon. Tasted Apr/2017.
The winemaker has done a commendable job of capturing that stoney/limey riesling quality, especially in this warmer vintage and at such a reasonable price point. That said, I find this wine to be a be a bit too dry and austere for my taste. I think it would show better in an off-dry style, and, as an added bonus, the alcohol would be, say, 9-10% instead of 12%. I'm a big fan of Ontario riesling, but Germany still sets the gold standard for this varietal!
