Arrowleaf Cellars has painted a wonderfully accurate portrait of Pinot Gris with their 2012 bottling. They have allowed the wine gracious concentration, not fearing any overripe flavors, while remaining true to a Pacific Northwest style. I appreciate the weight the wine has on the tongue, offering plump acids and good length. The nose and palate meld seamlessly with aromas of sunflower seeds, waffle batter, pencil wood and the gentle scent of cupboard air (at least my cupboards ;). The finish is ample and long with herbal mineral notes in the way of fish bone and tarragon. The wine is delicious now and I suspect it will put on some warranted weight over the next couple years. Great job!
