Spanish through and through, dry and tight tannins, cherry fruit, meaty, outstanding for 2010, should improve with a few years, excellent finish

It's been a while since I've had this wine, but it's just as lovely as I remember. While there's a good deal of fresh red fruit, this wine is all about the floral and savoury notes. A little spicy on the palate, it's mid-weight with loads of acidity and slightly grippy tannins. Some might consider this a food wine but, for me, this is an incredibly refreshing wine that I want to drink all the time. It's not the most complex, but it's put together so well. Tasted April 2015

Still fresh and lively, with vibrant acidity and fine tannin. Dense ripe fruit bolstered by spice and pepper. This actually seemed to get better with each sip. My second encounter with this wine and I remain very impressed. Second bottle purchased on sale at<$15, almost criminal at this quality level. Tasted March 2016.

Excellent wine. Dark red fruits, spices and iodine. Went well with cheese and indian spiced chicken, and I suspect roasted beef as well.

The aromatics of this powerful Ribeiro blend of Sousón, Ferrol, Brancellao, and Mencía are truly exceptional, direct and unabashed with characteristic Mencía notes of blueberry, blackberry, and violet, along with dried figs, prunes, cinnamon, and earth, while on the palate it presents a broad array of fruit from the dried (as on the nose) to the tart (raspberry, cherry) but with the emphasis still on wild berries complemented by baking spice and pepper. It's quite rustic, both in taste and texture, but what it lacks in complexity and sophistication it makes up for in concentration and depth.

Good deep colour. Nose has fresh berry notes with spicy hints. Juicy, med to full bodied, with a nice seam of acidity and lip-smacking tannins. Quite good length, if not super complexity. Mouth filling and, as the boys say, very satisfying. Nice balance of broad appeal with authenticity.
