Very grassy, lots of bell pepper, zucchini and cucumber on this zesty sauvignon blanc - unmistakably from New ealand....

It is typical and good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc
May be a little too typical. Great aromas and acidity. The gooseberries overwhelm at first, but then the grapefruit, learn and herbs come out. I personally like this wine a little warmer as it opens up more. Personally I like the clean and simple label with wine leaf cut out in a shape of weather hills, a fantastic place in Marlborough. Living in NZ for a long type I have tasted some fantastic Sauvignons, that is why I haven't given this one a full mark.

I will give this wine something, when this was tasted in a blind tasting there was no doubting this was New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but for all the wrong reasons.

Immediately the overwhelming character was all pyrazine based funk. The canned asparagus, olive, vegetal funk for myself and a few other tasters overwhelmed the other aromas. There was certainly some citrus/tropical like aromas but they took a back seat.

It's not a bad wine, it's certainly varietally correct and the palate is very well balanced but I have to knock a few off for being too green.

Though I've been a fan of most Wither Hills offerings in the past, this one struck me as well off the mark, veering way too far into the herbaceous side of the Savvy spectrum for my taste. Very lean and grassy, with a nose that suggests canned peas. Disappointing.
