The 2009 Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale that is composed of 80% Sangiovese with rest made up of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot was aged in French Oak for 24 months. This wine has intense aromas of earthy cherry, leather, subtle cedar and clove on the nose and yeasty pomegranate, red currant, cherry and wood on the palate. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; with forward acidity, refined tannins (decant for 15-30 min) and a medium finish. It is food friendly; drink now – 2018. My impression: NICE, 88 pts.
