Top quality county chardonnay. Up there with Closson Chase and Exultet IMHO. I don't pick up the same degree of oak as some of the critics. This is also $15 less than other top county chards.
The 2010 Lighthall Reserve Chardonnay that spent 8 months in French Oak barrels, has intense buttery-pear and light oak notes. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine with refreshing acidity and a long, oaky and light vanilla finish. Pair this wine with salty/acidic foods of your choice or enjoy on its own; drink now-2018+. Rated at 90-91 pts, this wine is highly recommended due to its quality and value. Tasted at 'County in the City' event http://grapeselections.com/county-in-the-city/ in April/13 and again at GFWE in Nov/13.

This is nicely done, but lacks some of the characteristics of County chards that I look for. This one is big and rich with lots of ripe tropical fruit to go along with the butter and vanilla oak notes. On the palate, there's the refreshing cool climate acidity and telltale County minerality, though it's not as apparent as many other County chards. This is well done, but is lacking the complexity to put it into the 90pt range. Lovers of big ripe chards will dig this though. Tasted Sept 2013
