Derek Barnett pulled a rabbit out of a hat by creating a delectable Chardonnay for a great price. Chards $20 and under usually disappoint, but not this one. Citrus notes mingle with tropical notes and sing along with zippy acidity. There’s noticeable wood to add complexities and depth, but nothing to throw the wine off balance. It got a little toughness to the finish, of which I would have preferred to be more suave. But it’s creamy enough to enjoy on its own. This really is authentic wine from a serious wine maker at a great price.
