Slightly deeper in colour and earthier than the "regular" Chateau des Charmes Gamay, the Gamay "Droit" nonetheless...

Not what I think of when I think of gamay, but I can dig this. Loads of black fruit, pepper, and a bit of earthiness on the nose. It's medium-bodied with soft tannins and the refreshing acidity makes gamay so food friendly. This one has a very good length on the finish. Excellent value! Tasted September 2013.

As close to a Cru Beaujolais as you're going to find! A solid Ontario expression of Gamay.

This wine was fruity; very ripe to jammy with lots of cherry and strawberry here. While a few years old at this point, there were still mild tannins and a long finish. I quite enjoyed this wine, especially paired with a herb-seasoned roast chicken.
Tasted January 2014.

Still holding, long and not yet turning. Nice, a bit fruity, good length.

The 2010 Château Des Charmes Gamay Noir ‘DROIT is made from a clone discovered here in Niagara right at Château Des Charmes that can be harvested two weeks later than other Gamay Noir hence allowing for more flavor and complexity. It has pleasing notes of raspberry, strawberry, pepper and earth. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry (though perceptually dry), fruit forward wine, with good acidity, subtle tannins and a finish of short to medium length. It goes well with grilled meats, whether savory or spicy; drink now – 2015. My impression: NICE, 88 pts. Tasted June/13.

Nice gamay, good velvety mouthfeel for this grape.
