This surprisingly fresh and youthful Muscadet, from the newly defined cru of Gorges, has been aged on its lees for a minimum of 24 months (as is required by the sub-appellation). The result is a notable autolytic character, and a luscious, creamy texture to the wine. But there is so much more: minerals – first and foremost – but also candied lemon, the latter giving a hint to the wine’s age. The complexity is high, the finish is medium-medium(+); this is an elegant, refined wine that offers tremendous value. And, without a doubt, it certainly has much more life left in it.
Great with mussels. 89/90
