The 2006 Joffré E Hijas Premium Merlot has intense aromas of black currant, prune, oak and vanilla. It is a full bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine, with good acidity balanced with refined tannins (decant for 30-60 min) and has a long, silky finish. Though food friendly with steak or lamb, enjoy this wine by itself; drink now - 2020+, though cellaring will still improve it (evolution potential of +2 pts). My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts - recommended for the cellar, especially now when it is discounted; RECOMMENDED based on quality and value. INTERESTINGLY: The LCBO's release date is correct (Nov 3/11) and though sold out, this vintage started appearing again, first at two central stores Queen's Quay and Summerhill (the product consultant couldn't find where it came from) and now they are discounted from $24.95 to $20.80 and are flourishing. Tasted April/13.
