Bright ruby-red in color, this Chianti opened up with aromas of sweet and sour cherries, raspberry, red currants, dried herbs, cedar and light floral and mineral notes. On the mouthfeel, medium bodied, spicy with fresh lively red fruit, crisp acidity and light tannins. This finish is long, juicy, spicy and slightly tangy with sweet berry fruit and loads of energy. This is a delicious textbook Chianti Classico, ready to enjoy, paired with pasta in a tomato sauce, spaghetti or Italian pasta. Strongly recommended.
An energetic, and delicious Chianti. Bright red fruits (raspberries, and especially sour cherries), notes of earth and leather. Finishes with fine tannin and bright acidity. A real Chianti and a joy to drink. Stellar with meat lasagna. Drink now or hold for 3-5 years. Tasted April 2014.
Very ripe fruit here, I'm thinking of wild raspberries; yet the wine itself is very old world. Accompanying the wild raspberries is a restrained chorus of cedar, spice, pine forest, white mushrooms, toasted almond and wax paper. Quite complex, and not exuberant despite its ripeness. The palate is lean and racy, chiseled with raspberry, mushroom and spice. Unwavering structure on the finish- strong, classy and sharp; just a bit too much alcohol showing up is my only grievance. Still, quite excellent; and thankfully not dominated by cabernet!
