Very rich taste, though I would describe it as being on the slightly dry and sour side. The first time I thought it had a bit of harshness, then I followed Steve's instructions and decanted it for an hour. That worked. This is a very good wine and a great value.
The 2010 Cousiño Macul Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium bodied, fruity wine, with appealing aromas of strawberry and raspberry on the nose and the palate. It has smooth tannins (decant for 30 min) and a medium-strawberry finish. Drink now or hold short term; food friendly. My impression: NICE, 88-89 pts. Tasted Nov/12.

Not that impressed, sorry. A tad dry and not many discernible flavours for me. I may try it with a different food pairing next time, if at all.
Well balanced and good value. Best enjoyed at about 15°C to smooth the tannins, reduce the bitterness and de-emphasize the alcohol.
Fairly complex aromas of cherry, cassis syrup, mocha, tobacco and eucalyptus lead to a very dense, thick palate. While there is a fair amount of complexity, subtlety is lacking and flavours don't integrate in a balanced or harmonious way. The alcohol is also very pronounced, giving it additional weight. and a fair amount of volatility. Decanting helped but despite some nice things going on, I couldn't finish my glass.
Interesting mix of ripe fruit and herbeceous notes, perhaps indicating relatively high yields. Alcohol is a bit on the high side and some tannin makes its presence felt on the finish. Solid wine for the $14 sale price, but I am not impressed enough to go back for a second bottle. Tasted Mar 2014.
