Medium+ aromas with beetroot, earthy, bitter forest floor and mushroom nose. Low-to-medium bodied with earthy and cherry flavours on the palate. Has refined tannins, balanced acids, and elegant spice on a long, clean finish. Tasted Apr/2014.
Quite ripe, with cherries, raspberries and pretty florals filling out the nose, complimented with shitake mushroom, and a light whiff of barnyard. On the palate it is quite plump, plush in texture with a lot of raspberry fruit and a touch of meatiness. Just medium in acidity, and its weight in fruit took away from it's refreshment/cleansing appeal in my view. Decent length, and overall I enjoyed it, but didn't think it was exceptional.
A notch above basic bourgogne, and on par with some villages; but I didn't find it to be the great value wine it's heralded as. Fairly priced, that's all.
