Really dig this wine, especially at the price. Very reminiscent of the 2005, with it's mature, earthy notes of black olive, black cherry, and dried savoury herbs. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with quite high acid and gripping tannins (the comparison to nebbiolo definitely makes sense) with excellent length. This is definitely not for everyone as it's a little savoury and rough around the edges, but it's a seriously well made wine and shows off beautifully with food. Tasted May 2012.
Lots of leathery berry flavors with hints of spice and cedar. Tannins are firm and strong but could use some additional age. The weight and clean acidity makes this wine food friendly.
