Another example of how the LCBO is ripping off Ontario wine drinkers. I purchased this wine for just $8.99 at Vonn's, a grocery chain in California. And its $15.99 here?? As for the wine, it's actually quite good. Medium bodied, with notes of red fruits, plum and smoke. Oak is very well integrated. The finish is a decent though not exceptional. But a steal for about 9 bucks, alas not here. Tasted Oct 2013.
Perhaps the years have not been as kind to this Crianza as the winemaker would have liked — the plum and blueberry notes are countered by barnyard and iron notes on the nose. This medium-bodied red is fairly short on the palate, with a quick hit of plum showing up before dissipating into white pepper notes and some dusty tannin.
