A balanced fruity cabernet that's correct but not very exciting or complex given its price. The nose shows cassis...

This is a rather soft and loose cabernet but it has some interesting, very savoury, spicy almost peppery notes. But a...

Cost: $19.95

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon

Alcohol: 13.5%

Description: Medium+ ruby in colour with a medium+ intense nose.

Positives: It’s a rare wine for being under $20 to have such complexity as this wine and to have both a beautiful nose and the taste is just as good. The wine features spiced oak, dark cherry, violets, plums, cinnamon, ripe tamarinds, cloves, blueberry, piped tobacco, Allspice and graphite. Medium body with medium+ tannins, good acidity and a long length. Nice to see the alcohol at 13.5%.

Negatives: None

Interesting Point: In Vintages now. It’s a Vintages Essentials.

Drink now or over the next 3-4 years on its own or pair it with grilled beef striploin in Bordelaise sauce.

Lovely crushed black fruit, red cherries and cedar oak aromas. Medium-bodied with nice aromas replays on palate, with hints of blueberries and cocoa on the long, smooth finish. Has mouth-watering acidity and velvety tannins. Very nice! Tasted Feb/2013.

The 2010 Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon (a vintage without a release, yet not in an essential section and often on sale) has attractive notes of blackberry, prune, coconut and vanilla. It is full bodied, fruity, on the acidic side, with subtle to refined tannins (decant for 30-60 min) and a medium to long and smooth finish. Drink with heavy foods; drink now or cellar for 5+ more years. My impression: NICE, 89 pts. Tasted March/13.

Spicy and full-bodied in the first approach ... is breathable and hop ... fruit! Spices still present and crunchy fruits - cherry palate Surprise! What flexibility for Cabernet Sauvignon! Cherry plum and spices ... always present ... juicy! Flexible living, tannins present but not too tight .. final long enough. Free Description: Very interesting, it stands out here with a velvety Cabernet Sauvignon, very good in taste, appealing to shoppers generally accustomed to a little softer wines.
