I figure a wine that sells for $9 (!) but manages to get the kinds of reviews posted above is worthy of examination. I'm glad I checked it out! What this wine may lack in depth and complexity, it makes up for in balance and sheer deliciousness. Pleasant aromas of red cherry and sour berries intermingle with subtle herbal / scorched earth notes. The palate is strawberry/raspberry/cherry driven with quite decent if one-dimensional mid-palate concentration. More than anything, it has a very nice mouthfeel - smooth, balanced, juicy, with fine-grained tannins and a medium length finish. Chill is a must (30 mins in fridge).
Black cherry, nuts, and spices on the nose. Juicy with softening tannin and it is medium-bodied. The alcohol stands out a bit, however.
Great wine for the price. smooth to drink
A simple but very tasty little red from Puglia. Bright red cherry flavours with brisk acidity and even some support from fine tannin. Agree with JS, best with a slight chill and with simple Italian fare. Fine value. Tasted Feb 2014.
This was my 'house' wine--until the introduction of the screw cap. I have no problem with screw caps per se, but after having to use shears and cutting myself twice while trying to open the bottles, and taking upward of 10 minutes to do so, I have given up on this wine and returned my "stock" to the LCBO. Be warned.
Ok all around
