Youthful exuberance will give way to softer, lush chew in a few years. Not a pre-meal sipper but excellent with lamb and garlic roasted veggies. Big believer in minimum of 14% alcohol or it just isn't going to cut it.
While there is some fruit and mineral in this wine it is mostly masked by strong acidity and pointlessly high alcohol. The back of the bottle says the finish is spice but it is in reality only hot alcohol. However, I don't want to jump all over G. Meffre, for a hot wine it actually works when you want to warm up on a cold day in the winter and when you've finished the bottle you don't really care!
