This is a very different shiraz from the usual fruit forward fruit bombs offered up by Australia. this is very reminiscent of Syrahs from the Cote du rhone region. this is a wonderful wine for meals like Pork Tenderloin,
Turkey.

One of, if not the best Shiraz I have ever tried. I can only imagine how good this will be in a few more years. I plan on picking up a couple to cellar. Tasted November 2012.

Such an interesting wine, not your typical Aussie Shiraz. Clearly Chapoutier's influence and unique terroir from this lieu dit in the Pyranees has resulted in a rich, savoury complex wine. Quite intense aromatics with depth and concentration but the flavour profile is less about the fruit and much more about the savoury. At almost eight years it will shift more in that direction. Umami rich soy, teriyaki, mushroom, earth and raw meat. Medium plus acidity provides balance and lift. It's big (14% ABV) and rich, but it carries a certain elegance. Excellent length. Drinking nicely now. Dec. 2017.

Wow! This really is "France meets Australia." Tremendous depth and complexity matched with perfect fruit. Easy to overlook this, except that you keep on noticing how delicious it is. Not exactly bargain basemet price, but stacked against a Hermitage it is!

The 2010 Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Lieu Dit Malakoff Shiraz - Shiraz sourced from the Malakoff vineyard and made as “a collaboration between legendary French wine grower Michel Chapoutier and wine industry icon Anthony Terlato” (taken from the bottle). It has overwhelming aromas of milky lees, below which smoke, raspberry and blackberry aromas emerge on the nose and raspberry, light wood and subtle barnyard on the palate. It is a medium bodied (on the light side yet with intense lees/fruit flavor), extra-dry, fruity to integrated wine; BALANCED with forward acidity, silky tannins (decant for 30+ min) and a medium to long, slightly hot finish. Drink with food or sip on its own; drink 2016-2022+; evolution potential of +2 pts. My impression: 90-91 (+2 ep) – it is well crafted ‘French style’ wine, though too yeasty for my liking – recommended based on quality for those who enjoy French style, yeasty/yogurty wines. Will open the remaining 3 bottles in 2019, 2024 and sometime after that to see how it evolves. Tasted couple of times, Mar/13 & Dec/13.

This cool climate shiraz made with low yielding vines and opened up with aromas of black fruit, tar, saddle leather, black pepper, dried herb de Provence and black pepper notes. On the mouthfeel, full bodied, dry, layered dark fruit and smoky flavours, balance acidity and fine structured tannins. A great length on the finish, with concentrated and robust flavours. This Shiraz is built for the long haul, I would say 4-5 years for the texture to soften up and all elements of this Shiraz to fully integrate. Excellent addition to any cellar.

Well made, smooth & structured. interesting and mind provoking...black pepper, blueberry, cherry, violets,tobacco..etc... the palate is super smooth but flavours turn to sour or expired chocolate, leather (lots of leather) gamey almost???...weird...but enjoyable...not a blockbuster, for the wine nerd.
