Clear medium ruby colour.
Expressive aromas of sour red fruits such as boysen berry, matched with scents of dried purple flowers like lavender and violets, all laced with notes of spice and sumac.
On the palate the wine is dry, with low fine tannins. Medium bodied. Similar flavours to the aromas. Medium length. Easy to drink on it's own.
I will pick a up a few more bottles...
Really solid bottle of wine. Lots of black fruit on the nose, but more jammy and dried out than fresh. Blackberry jam and prune notes along with more savoury herbacous and meaty, smokey notes, though the fruit is most definitely at the forefront. On the palate, it's lacking some complexity, though the price means I can't complain. The acidity is somewhat surprising as it's nice and fresh with are reasonably low though have some lingering grippiness suggesting this could last 3-4 years. Quite enjoyable, particularly with some BBQ or braised meats. Tasted December 2012.
Juicy, bright red fruit, with noted local herbs and pepper. Good concentration, a bit more sweet than the '07, and it does just have an ok finish. Still, a most enjoyable wine despite the additional $2 gouge courtesy of our wine monoploy. Tasted Nov 2012.
