This wine sits dark ruby in the glass and reveals dark fruit on the nose. But for me it's the savoury, smoky, peppery, earthy, meaty tones that dominate. Really more old world in style, but not overly so. I get some green pepper and olive notes as well. Typical Syrah in that the flavour knockout punch is up front with only a jab and counter punch of heat on the lengthy finish. Made an excellent tag team with striploin steak drizzled with a shallot mushroom wine reduction. Grip it n' sip it!. April 2013.
