excellant value
Very good!
The 2008 Valdivieso Single Vineyard Old Vines Malbec (not the 2009, label mistake, hence the discount?), harvested from 80 year old vineyard and aged in French Oak for 12 months prior to bottling, is a medium bodied, integrated wine, with intense aromas of blackberry, figs, toasted oak, vanilla and coconut. It has a nice minerality, refined tannins (decant for 1-2 hours), is on the acidic side and has a long and smooth finish. It is food friendly, though I would recommend to sip it; drink now-2016. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - recommended buy, discounted from $19.95. Tasted Jan/13.

Very nice with BBQ lamb burgers. Blackberry and coconut notes, nicely put together.
Some nice traits, but just a little too acidic for my taste.
Fruit forward, plummy taste. Very nice slightly pepper or mineral finish. I cannot quite give it a ninety, it is not just not smooth enough.
Deep-coloured with a youthful purpled tinge. Medium-full body, with structured acidity and soft tannin. Notes of blackberry, raspberry and a touch of leather and cracked pepper. Had a long lived length, but had a touch of heat from the alcohol. Otherwise, well-balanced and shows some refinement. Sept 2012.
Wasn't a hit.
