A really nice Super Tuscan from the bottom of the Chianti Classico region. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet in this one. Like Ben Johnson in 1988. Its brooding, powerful and dense, and it’ll disappear so fast in your glass, you’ll know you’ve been cheated. Decant it and serve it with steak Florentine.
I greatly enjoyed this.
Agree w Ryan re allusion to Chianti on steroids.
Agree with DL and JS re oak/tannins somewhat dominating the experience.
Think I agree with JH re overall quality.
A nice big Chianti-ish Italian; might be a bit too big for guests who aren't into the style.
Not sure I would spend 25 again for more of this.
Update: My wife (who is not much of a red-lover) really likes this....interesting.
This wine is extremely rustic in style, it is full flavoured with strong acids and a medium dry finish.

Kind of a muted note? I get burnt wood, char, ash and smoke. The fruit is really faint but perhaps blueberry puree. The palate is medium weight with really aggressive tannins. Finishes with a fine grade sandpaper on your tongue. Too astringent for me. 93 PTS JS...he must have tasted it after smoking a cigar.
