very nice, like a little brother of the Small Gully Formula
With JH on this one. Blackish red in colour. Interesting herbaceous notes, particularly mint and anise. Dark, rich berries dominate the fruit. The blend comes together nicely.
Good value for money and a pleasant surprise for anyone that is not always a fan of Barossa fruit.
Tasted July 2012.
It’s hard not to like this wine despite its imperfections. Right from the start the colour indicates nice deep concentrated fruit. The nose offers ripe black cherry, sweet pipe tobacco, vanilla oak & herbal notes (jagermeister). The palate is silky smooth & full bodied, and even though it’s a tad loose knit, it really seems to come together on the finish with nice dry tannins. Although it gives you the impression it’s going to be a Barossa goopy jam fruit bomb, it somehow keeps itself legitimate & focused. This wine sits right on the edge of the fence for me…but since it’s so delicious, it won me over
